Get to know Suzy and Jeanne and their dogs, Scooter and Bucky, who took the Purina ONE 28-Day Challenge with us in Asheville, North Carolina.
Suzy and Jeanne have been good friends for a couple of years now – and they owe it all to Scooter and Bucky. The two dogs became instant friends when they met at the dog park, and Jeanne and Suzy soon found out that their dogs weren’t the only ones who had a lot in common.
The two friends started planning playdates and social outings, but their time together didn’t end there. Suzy and Scooter had been making therapy dog visits to school and children’s hospital wards for a while, and they introduced Jeanne and Bucky to pet therapy, too.
Now, the two friends spend their time helping children overcome their anxiety and learn to read more easily, and Scooter and Bucky thrive on the attention and love they receive from the kids.
“There is a department where children are having emotional problems. And that’s our favorite place to go, because they love to cuddle him,” says Jeanne.
Both Jeanne and Suzy decided to take the Purina ONE 28-Day Challenge with us – Suzy was most concerned about keeping Scooter healthy and energetic, and Jeanne wanted to make sure Bucky was eating a food he really enjoyed.
And after the 28-Day Challenge was over, how did things go for these two friends?
“Well, it makes me honestly feel wonderful,” says Suzy. “I can’t help but think that it’s going to continue to be a really good food for him.”
“I was supplementing with people food just to get him to eat… And now I don’t have to put a thing [on it]. He eats everything. Every bit of Purina One that’s in that bowl, he eats it,” says Jeanne.
These two pairs of friends are an incredible example of how the bonds between dogs and owners overlap and intertwine, bringing people together in ways they never expected.
As Suzy says, “We want the best for our best friends, that’s what we want. And I think that’s what we have.”
