Product Overview

In our Sensitive Systems Dog Food, we start with real salmon as our first ingredient plus rice and oat meal. Why? And a generous addition of Vitamin E and Omega-6 helps him be comfortable in his skin. We asked, Mother Nature answered. It's choosing ingredients that work better together than they ever could on their own that inspired us to call this dry dog food SMARTBLEND.

Feeding Guidelines

ADULT FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog with a normal activity level (using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup, which contains approximately 115 g of Purina ONE).  Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition.  The pet experts at Purina have provided the feeding amounts indicated as a starting point.  If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly.  To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and his waist is visible when viewed from above.  Maintaining an ideal body condition can impact your dog’s lifelong health.

IT'S NOT FOR ALL DOGS
Purina ONE Sensitive Systems Formula is specifically formulated for adult dogs.  If you have a puppy, or a pregnant or nursing dog, feed Purina ONE SMARTBlend Healthy Puppy Formula.

MAY BE SERVED DRY OR MOISTENED
Purina ONE may be fed dry or mixed with water.  If mixed, we suggest one part liquid to four parts Purina ONE.

FEED ONLY ONE
A dog's digestive system works best when it receives the same food each day.  Although humans crave variety in their diets, dogs do not.  Feeding different dog foods can turn your dog into a finicky eater.  Avoid feeding table scraps, as they can upset the nutrient balance provided by your dog's regular food, and may lead to obesity.  The best way to feed your dog is to feed only one dog food each and every day.

MAKING THE SWITCH TO PURINA ONE
Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Purina ONE can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from his current food.  Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Purina ONE until you’re feeding Purina ONE exclusively.  This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

NO SUPPLEMENTS NECESSARY
Purina ONE provides 100% complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs.  There is no need to add vitamins, minerals or other supplements, unless specifically directed by a veterinarian.

FRESH WATER, PROPER DIET & VETERINARY CARE
Be sure to provide fresh water in a clean container for your dog daily.  Proper diet, exercise and veterinary care are the best ways to keep your dog healthy.  If your dog hasn’t had a check-up in the past year, please make an appointment today.

Exceptional Salmon based Food

I have a German Shepherd, a collie, and a lab. After several bouts of tummy issues I finally went to a grain free food. That corrected their tummy troubles ... to the tune of about $2/lb for the brand we were using. Being on a budget but still seeking a quality food, I tried Sensitive Systems since it was salmon based just like the overly expensive grain free brand. It agrees with all of my dogs, eradicating all of their digestive upset. It IS difficult to locate ... however, one of my local Petsmart stores has exceptional management, and they always reserve a large bag for me.

I am so pleased with this formula that I am even contemplating transitioning our Ragdoll from that super expensive brand to Purina One cat food.

Excellent for pets with stomach issues!

Have tried many expensive and so called "all natural" foods for my Schnauzer which has horrible stomach problems (i.e. Gas and throwing up). Day two of the 28 day challenge all that stopped and they love it. When you find a product that works you stick with it. So impressed I put my 2 year old Malteze on Sensitive Systems formula as well. If your dog has digestion issues try this food!

Only food my fur baby can handle

My 11 year old beagle can only handle this due to his sensitive stomach. I have gone the route of buying food from the vet to less expensive brands at the store. My only complaint is I am also having to drive many miles to find the food or forced to pay extreme mark ups at PetCo. I recently asked my local grocer if they would carry along with the other Purina formulas. I am hopeful to hear back from them that they will start to carry. If not I may be looking for another brand/formula to keep my fur baby happy & healthy..
Thank you from Buster the loveable Beagle.. :)

No more "fish butts"

My jack russell ate about anything i put in front of her, no digestive issue, but she's always had problem with gland not emptying when she goes to the bathroom. So once every other week, it would suddenly "leak", very unpleasant, it gets on the carpet on her bed etc... This salmon based purina one sensitive dog food is the ONLY kind, i repeat, the ONLY kind that has solved her problem. Since switching about a year ago, not a single fish butt episode ever!

My other dog rottie/lab mix has a sensitive stomach, along with the fish butt issue. With other kinds of dog food, he sometimes throw up the entire content about a hour after he eats it, also problem with diarrhea and fish butt. Again, since switching, no more fish butt, and rarely rarely does his stomach gets upset anymore. Another bonus- he has the most beautiful shiny black coat now! Gets compliments on it all the time.

One minor complain- cost is a bit high, wish it is more affordable with a 40 lb bag offered. Since jan 2014, the supply of this dog food has been so low in all my local grocery store and pet supply stores, what is going on? Would love to see more manufacturing coupon on Purina one.

Only formula that keeps my retriever's "itchy flares" at bay

Like most Retriever/Labrador owners can probably attest, ours have always had at least some level of ongoing skin allergies/sensitivity. However, it wasn't until our 3rd pup that I noticed it to be a more serious issue and started researching to find some answers. Our 2 year old retriever has had what we call "skin itchys" pretty much from day one. We started putting olive oil over his food but saw little improvement. It wasn't until I took him to a new vet that she suggested steering clear of all chicken and beef products. So, we tried this out as Purina has always been our go-to and I saw the sensitive label. It wasn't long before we saw a vast improvement in our golden's skin (along with a few baths to wash away the itchys in the process). He finally wasn't gnawing at his skin anymore!

We switched it up and tried the lamb and rice formula as well, but noticed the flare-ups again so we had a pretty good incling this was solely due to his diet. (He also has a history of yeast-related ear issues too, so we think that may all be related). As soon as we put him on this, that also seemed to improve. His ears no longer have a potent smell or irritation like they used to.

If you are struggling with skin allergies like us, particularly what seems to be a yeast/dry food ingredient trigger, do yourself a favor and GIVE THIS A TRY!!! Our dogs - (the 2 year old retriever and our 14 year old retriever as well, who we thought would turn his nose to anything new) - will never eat another food again because of the overall benefits we have seen in his skin and coat since.

Sidenote: If you're finding that you can't get them to eat it, maybe you have an overly picky pup or just have spoiled them like we tend to do ;) - find what they WILL eat and mix it in in moderation. For us, they LOVE coconut oil! So we just melt less than a tablespoon amount and drizzle it over when needed. POOF - they gobble the entire thing and get the added benefit of the coconut oil without even realizing it.

THANK YOU PURINA ONE FOR THIS FORMULA AND FOR KEEPING IT AFFORDABLE!

Sensitive Systems literally a life saver

When I adopted my dog Lily, 6 years ago, I learned the hard way that arctic dogs often suffer from digestive issues. She refused to eat, and had become dehydrated. Thankfully, I found Purina One salmon and rice formula. Within days she was feeling better. She loves the taste, and her coat is shiny and beautiful.

So far so good

I started all my dogs on this food about a month ago when one dog started having vomiting problems. They all like the food quite a lot and the vomiting has stopped. Everyone's coat is soft and shiny. The dog that was vomiting has had a tremendous improvement in his skin and coat. So far I am pleased with the food. I order it online and have it delivered right to my door.

Excellent dog food for a sensitive dog!

We had tried almost every food for our German Shepherd who seems to have severe food allergies. After multiple questions to the breeder and what she recommended we decided to take him to a vet to see if it was something else. They decided that he may have severe allergies to food and to try Purina One Sensitive Systems and we are soo glad we did! He no longer is scratching himself raw or losing hair or having rashes. It has been a few weeks on this and noticed almost 100% difference! I would defiantly recommend this to any dog that may have food allergies!

My dog is doing soo much better!

My one year old lab has always been super itchy. She'd chew on herself until she'd bleed. Not to mention she shed a ton! I switched her to the sensitive blend and she no longer sheds as much and she now rarely itches or chews! Me and her both LOVE this food!
