Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shiny Coat, High Energy, Less Poos Purina One Smartblend Large Breed Puppy Formula is great. Our Black Labrador, who is just turning 10 months old, loves it. I also sent the ingredients to our vet and he approved the switch as well since our pup wasn't so interested in the food previously recommended. (Unusual for a Lab.) He eats it well, (even in his Kong toys), still has a very shiny coat that people comment on, and fewer poops. His energy is also higher (it was already high), which has kept his weight at a very healthy level with this diet and exercise. (Almost 10 months and weighed 58.9 pounds earlier this week.) Many people comment on his shiny coat and healthy weight saying most Labs they see look chunky or overweight, and ask us what we feed him. We gladly tell them Purina One Smartblend Large Breed Puppy. We absolutely recommend this food for all growing large breed pups.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Delivers on What it Promises" Dear Purina,Your SmartBlend Large Breed Puppy Formula was on sale one day, so my husband decided to try it for our 18-month-old rescue. She can be a finicky eater, so we were surprised at how much she loved this food. She's been eating it for 2 weeks and we've already seen many changes--her eyes are brighter, her digestion has improved, and we can personally attest that your claims of extra energy are absolutely true. And we hate you for it.Do you have any idea what it's like having a 120-lb Great Dane puppy with extra energy?? She's already like a bull in a china shop but, on your food, there's no stopping her. 2 walks a day and an hour's romp on the beach barely slow her down. She's still racing around the house like a lunatic for hours at a time.I'm sorry, but we won't be purchasing this food in the future. Seriously--we're worn out and the cats are nervous wrecks. We're going back to the stuff that makes her a lazy dog that is often mistaken for a piece of furniture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beyond my expectations!!! Wyndie and Wilburr were part of an abandon 10 pup litter found in the back country of Scioto County. Eating a diet of moss, bark and ground water. The rescue group put them on a diet of Purina Puppy Chow. It's been 4 months since the adoption.Wyndie started at 6 pounds, Wilburr, 4 pounds. The vet recommended Purina One.I switched to Purina One after my first 30 pound bag of Puppy Chow. I mixed the largest bags of Purina One Large Puppy brand with a Purina One Lamb. After 4 months, Wyndie weighs in at 39.5 pounds while Wilburr monsters in at 45 pounds. Both dogs are now quite fit, in shape, playful and active.Their pure brindle coats shine very well.I'm happy because the vets are happy.I won't be switching. Thanks!Anthony J. Rated 5 out of 5 by from She loves it, We love it! When we brought home our newly adopted 100lb, 10 month old Great Dane pup, first thing I noticed was her urine was killing our grass. I researched it and it is caused from getting too much grain in their diet. With her breed, we have to watch the protein/fat intake so that she doesn't grow too fast, which can cause joint problems. While researching different dog foods I came across this Purina One 28 day challenge and decided to try it since you offer the Purina One Puppy Formula for Large Breed Dogs. She used to eat a portion of her food and then go back to finish the rest, now she doesn't leave one kibble behind. She was a little rambunctious for a Great Dane to begin with, well I wouldn't mind if she would take it down a notch. Her energy level did increase with the switch, but also her black coat is so shiny and our grass is no longer turning brown when she potties!! Yay. Win Win for all of us!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Food Dear Purina One,We have been feeding Purina food to our canines for decades. We use Purina One Large Breed Puppy and Adult Food.We are blessed with Dobermans in our lives. Dobermans expected life span is between 7-10 yrs of age. Their life span is based on good nutrition, exercise, medical care, and so forth. We have had 2 dobermans live well past their expected life span. One lived to be almost 16 years of age and the other just turned 17 in May of 2014.Our 17 year old boy still jumps baby gates, still bounces around, chases the balls, and plays as if he is a 6 year old boy. Since he came to our house he has only been feed Purina One Large Breed. Our other dobermans are doing exceptional and we highly recommend Purina One Large Breed Puppy and or Adult dog food. I am positive our boy, our canines, are living proof of the great quality your food is for canines.Thank you for ensuring such quality in your food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food! Won't use anything else! We decided to buy this food and try it after our dog lost a lot of weight. She was an outside dog that we decided needed an indoor loving home. So we brought her into our home and from either nervousness or being very excited she lost weight. She didn't want the food she was on previously and quit eating. I read some reviews on this after deciding I wanted something that was healthier and that she would respond to. At the request of the vet we started her on puppy food to put some weight on her quickly. She loved the food and within a week started gaining weight. In the 28 days she went from being about 10 lbs underweight to perfect and extremely happy. We were able to switch her over to adult food much quicker than we thought. She loves her food and we love that she is at a healthy weight and eating. I highly recommend this food! Great value and quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dog food my Sasha lives I compared Purina One Smart Blend Large Breed Puppy with regular Purina Puppy chow and Hills Science Diet Large Breed Puppy Food. Purina One Smart Blend Large Breed Puppy is by far her favorite. Her other foods I had to literally sit and make her eat. She didn't care for them at all. With this I can barely get it in her bowl before she's already eating on it. She loves the pieces of real chicken. And her coat is shiny and she looks very healthy. She has more energy for a 19 week old puppy. As long as she's happy it makes momma happy. Thank you!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Puppies are thriving!!!! Dear Purina,Thank you first of all for being a company that prides itself on not only paper testing but taste testing your foods for quality and health standards. One of my puppies was sick with diarhhea for a week, sending us to the vet with worry, where she was thoroughly checked out and our vet advised to change her food. I was feeding her Fromm Family puppy food (very expensive) and was informed by my vet that many dog food companies don't have the money to do thorough testings on their foods, and though they pass the standards on paper, they aren't necessarily great for our pets. After my puppy finished her round of vet dosed canned food, both my dogs went on Purina One Large Puppy. (Thank you for keeping your costs down on the food as well.) Both of them love it and are very healthy and thriving. They have lots of energy and just look very happy and healthy. My vet listed many options for food: Science Diet, Eukanuba, but when he mentioned that he knew the local county sheriffs K9's were on Purina One, I knew that was the one for us. So thank you for caring about the health of our puppies as much as we do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality of food my puppy enjoys THE OTHER DOG FOOD I HAD HIM ON HE WOULD PICK AND NOT EAT LIKE HE SHOULD. SO I DECIDED TO TRY PURINA ONE LARGE BREED PUPPY FORMULA HE LOVES IT AND HE EAT LIKE HE SUPPOSE TO EAT WHEN EVER I FEED HIM. HISCOAT IS SHINY AND HE IS BRIGHT EYED AND OVERLY ACTED. I TRIED TWO OTHER PUPPY FOODS BEFORE PURINA ONE.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No difference noticed My Lab eats 50lbs a week she is only 8 months. 50lbs a week is way over the recommended feeding. Yet she is not putting on as much weight as she should. I have not noticed any other difference in her since we started the 28 day challenge. Just that it takes much more food to maintain her body shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The boys love it We got two new German Shepherds and had them on a different brand which they didn't really like. Found the large breed puppy food and they love it. Only thing is I wish it was in bigger bags. We go through a bag a week and they are only 3 months old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Puppy Had Amazing Results I started my new puppy on Purina 1 Large Breed Puppy formula. Her energy went from a 3 to a 10+! Her eyes were a dull brown, and now they have golden flecks in them. Her coat is SO soft, and she has grown by Leaps and Bounds, compared to the other formula I was feeding her. The vet could not believe that I took an underweight, sick, rescue puppy, and turned her into an amazingly strong, and energetic puppy. They couldn't believe the difference in her after just 2 weeks on it. She gained weight and looked like a whole other dog. I LOVE this food and I will continue to use it now, forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My doberman puppy loves purina one large breed puppy I've been feeding my Doberman puppy "Axel" purina one large breed puppy since we got him at 6 wks. He loves it I worked in a huge corporate owned Pet store for 16 yrs and believe me I was frowned upon for buying this since they push all the expensive gourmet dog foods.....My 10 month old puppy now weight 95-100lbs. His coat is so shiny people always ask what I feed him and he is so healthy and happy ! I'll be honest I was guilted into trying one of the better brands I should say totally expensive , you know the more it costs the better????? and that was a disaster he had diarrhea soooo badd it was awful. I have promised Axel we will not change his food ever until he no longer needs the puppy then right to purina one large breed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Food that my picky puppy will eat!! This Purina One Large Breed Puppy Formula is the best. I have a 4 month old German Shepherd puppy that wouldn't eat any of the expensive foods we tried. He was very under-weight and had no energy. Our vet, who sold Science Diet and Eukanuba in her clinic suggested we try Purina One because she's heard such great reviews about it. We switched by mixing the Purina 50-50 with the Royal Canin German Shepherd Formula 30 that he was eating and he would eat the Purina and leave the Royal Canin. So we started feeding just the Purina One. Within 1 day, we had a whole new puppy. He was so energetic and almost seemed hyper. For the first time he started acting like a puppy. One month later and he looks great. We just had our third visit to the vet and she couldn't believe how great he looked. Thanks Purina!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful for my dogs' health! I have two young dobermans, They came from different breeders, one feeding a super cheap food brand and the other feeding one of those so called "premium" food brands. Both had decent coats, muscles and energy. After a short transition period I put them both on Purina One Large Breed formula to simplify feeding. The difference is so dramatic even my vet was shocked! They have almost like silk coats now. Super shiny and soft. They are growing puppies, but the difference is muscle tone is so amazing, likely because of the energy boosts! And that is the most shocking difference of all. I though they had plenty of energy before. Now they are almost non-stop! They have the energy to run miles in the dog park and never get cranky from being tired! They are both beginning basic training for search and rescue work and they even love the taste so much that we are using the food for training purposes, so no more worries about stomach issues from treats! It is so nice to know that if and when they complete training, they will be on food that will help them have the energy to push just a little longer and hopefully find just that one extra person alive. Thank you Purina!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rotten Rottie-Shepherd likes it bowls full Been feeding LeRoy "Purina One SmartBlend for large breed puppies" (only one I found) W/1st ingredient CHICKEN, NOT Bi Products or grains, Available @ grocery stores W/price point @ $1.22 per pound it's not the cheapest on shelf BUT (IMO) His clear eyes, beautiful coat, happy, healthy, good energy, weight and His "finished product" is as it should be. MOST importantly NO smelly Dog gas and HE STILL LIKES IT! (after 5 mths.) LeRoy came into our lives as a stray/rescue he's staying as a Service Animal (in training). I chose Purina One over Hills (from Vet.), IAMS (from BB pet center), he didn't like the samples of Blue Buffalo (from specialty store) because of availability, cost, ingredients and willingness to eat. Purina One was the only one made with actual chicken 1st on grocery store shelves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great nutrition, great price, great taste! Our boxer started out on Iams large breed puppy. He did okay but picked more than ate so we started mixing it w wet food just to get him to eat enough through the day. One day I bought a bag of Purina One large breed puppy w a coupon. BEST decision ever! He ate the entire bowl - DRY. The switch was made. He has never turned down his dinner - mixed or not. He is a VERY healthy happy 8month, weighing in at 55lbs. The food is also a great deal (we buy a BIG bag bc he is now an eater!) THANK YOU Purina.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made the Switch and loving it When we got our puppy at 8 weeks from his breeder, she had him on another brand you can only buy at a specialty pet shop. We bought it and kept him on it for one bag but knew we didn't want to be tied to a food we couldn't get at a normal store. Our previous dog was on special food and several times we ran out with no way to get more immediately! So we looked around and decided on Purina One for our new pup. He gobbles it down and is healthy and right on track! We'll definitely continue with the adult mix when he's 1!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rasing ThecRed Nose I started My 10 week old Red Nose on this product at 3weeks of age. It was on the Smart Blend product. It kept her healthy size and coat wise. She was 15 lbs at 8 weeks. I just recently was advised to put her on Blue Bufflalo by my pet trainer last week. I tried it for a week but noticed a decrease in her weight apperance, so today I decided to go purchase My Purina One Smartblend Large Breed and add it into her daily feeding schedule. Im goin to try to feed her 1 cup of Blue Buffalo for her 11 am feeding and 2 Cups of Purina for her 5 pm feeding and her soft can of Purina Pro at 10 pm. I shall do a follow up in three weeks. Thank you Purina for my 25 lb 10 week Female Red Nose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried and tried again...finally found Purina One Here are some of the puppy foods we tried:Earthborn, Natural Balance Ultra, Hill's Ideal Balance, Hill's Science Diet, and Fromm's.Our puppy Sasha would sometimes eat, sometimes not. We would need to mix meat or chicken or broth to get her to eat. Her stools were loose or runny or worse. She was thin. Now Sasha eats three times a day without fail, and her body is filling out. Stools are solid. We love Purina One.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good food My 7 mt old pup was on blue buffalo cause *its the best* and like everyone else I wanna give him a quality food.. Being a coonhound shepherd mix he needs a good healthy diet.. i read reviews and made the choice.. We mixed the food slowly like i was advised and it took a week for him to get violently ill.. I thought we were gonna lose him.. Didn't think it was the food til I took him off and his condition improved.. He is now switching back to purina. The purina one smartblend is what my vet suggested and I'm done w the this is better than that.. Its a choice each pet parent needs to make and like formula for a baby it's ultimately the decision of who is eating it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Licks the bowl clean! my 67 pound 9 month old black lab mix literally licks the bowl clean! i remember when she was on her old food she waited til the last possible moment to eat (like when she is so hungry) but the first day during the switch process she tried to pick around the bits of purina one and tried to avoid the puppy chow.we also love this for convenience. the large breed puppy chow we could only find at wegmans (she was on that when we adopted her and the closest wegmans is 45 miles away) and this one we can get at walmart or stop and shop (3 miles away). Also we love that it has chicken as the first ingredient. we can tell that helps with her energy. And don't be discouraged by her weight. shes not fat, shes just big! Finally! Quality food that isn't expensive (only 6$ more a bag than the puppy chow) and she loves it!thank you for great food! It delivered all it guaranteed (shiny coat, energy, taste, digestive, etc) and thank you for the 28 day challenge. if it wasn't for that we probably would have never tried it. it made me feel safer. But i cant wait until we can move her to the adult large breed since we can get that almost everywhere where i livebut thank you for a great food

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dog Food! My 8 month old lab mix loves Purina One. When we adopted him from the Humane Society they had him on Purina One dog food already, so we decided to continue him on the same diet. Right now we give him large breed puppy formula and we have also bought the healthy puppy formula. The two are the same ingredients/mixture just bigger bites in the large breed. He doesn't mind either way. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a quality dog food for a decent price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food for large breed puppies My husband and I have a Labrador/Alaskan Malamute mix who is almost seven months old. We've been feeding him Purina One for several months and we wouldn't feed him anything else. We can tell he's getting the nutrition his rapidly growing body needs - he weights 65 pounds and is as big and tall as female full grown labs and lab mixes, and we know that he'll get to at least 80 pounds when he is an adult. His vet was also very impressed with his muscle tone. He is a very healthy and happy active boy in part because of the food he eats! Thank you Purina!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For a full year My 11-month old Basenji isn't a large breed dog, but because he wolfs his food down so fast, I thought I'd try the bigger pieces in order to slow him down a bit. It works great, and he looks great too. Healthy and active, Sherlock will be graduating to the Lamb and Rice Adult formula next month. My 4-year old, Azizi, has been eating that since she was one, and her coat is so soft, even the long guard hairs. My 13-year old, Buddy, has been a Purina One dog all his life and has eaten Senior formula since he was seven. I love Purina One and recommend it to all. I would never switch, because I've had such excellent results for all three of my Basenjis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog loves it! I have a 6 month old St Bernard/ Bernese mix and I wanted a dog food for large breeds that wouldn't put me in the poor house, he currently eats 9 cups a day. I was happy to find Purina One for large breeds because the price was affordable and the first ingredient was chicken. My puppy loves it and he is healthy. His coat is shiny and he's very playful. Thank you for making good dog food that's affordable for large breeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purinaone large breed puppy Like many others I too thought the more expensive puppy food was the best for my Doberman puppy. After months of feeding times where my dog would be unenthusiastic about eating and would take 30 minutes per sitting, he also would have diarrhea constantly, we switched his food to purina one large breed puppy. Almost immediately he gobbled up his food and his stools became healthy. He is so happy and excited for meals he sometimes sleeps in front of his food container. He is healthy, looks great, tons of energy and I think he loves me even more! This is the food you want! I tell everyone, it's affordable, and amazing!
