Sensitive Systems Formula Adult Premium Dog Food

Rated 5 out of 5 by great food Rosco our bloodhound/lab mix that we rescued has done real well with this food. I started feeding him a more expensive food, but wanted to find something more economical. At 4 cups a day, it gets expensive! After trying a few other less expensive brands (which worked well Brittany but not Rosco), I found this food and it has been a great match. He is very healthy, loves it and I get a lot of compliments on how soft his coat is. The only downside like someone else mentioned is the dog/fish breath.....lol! It can be a little difficult to find in major retailers (Walmart, Meijers), but fortunately there are a lot of pet stores around that I can purchase it from. I also agree that it would be nice to find some coupons for this food, it sounds like it has a prety dedicated customer base. May 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by FINALLY a food that ALL of our Huskies can enjoy! After spending hundreds of dollars trying to figure out WHY our huskies had diarrhea (we thought worms, parasite, etc) we finally learned it was their dog food :/ So we started with a bag of some expensive dog food and kept trying different brands until we found Purina One Sensitive Systems (we should have known to start with them in the first place). Now ALL four of our huskies can eat the same foods without an upset stomach or diarrhea afterwards. We've never seen an advertisement for JUST the sensitive systems and I think it would def. benefit Purina to do so... had we seen a commercial for it, we probably would have tried it first :) Great Product and I DEF recommend it! Rated 5 out of 5 by Stomach issues resolved with Sensitive System Our 2-1/2 year old German Shorthair Pointer came to us from the Animal Humane Society at 11 months. His diet at the shelter, as well for his first six months with us, was Chicken and Rice Purina One. After several bouts with upset tummy issues, we switched him to the Sensitive System line and Tahoe has since been bout free. There were no issues switching from the Chicken and Rice to the Salmon - Tahoe eat it readily. We recently gave him a sample of the new One beyOnd line with no side affects and will probably switch over to that when the existing food runs out. Like the idea of natural ingredients in dog food. Rated 5 out of 5 by Best food yet! I have 3 dogs total, my two that have issues are American Bullies. My female is allergic to nearly everything and has always had patchy fur and chews herself raw. We tried high end expensive brand dog foods, prescription dog foods, everything and nothing helped. We then were recommended to try this by our vet and within just 2 weeks saw a HUGE difference. My male also suffered from loose stools, not ever fully formed and many tests were done to make sure no parasites or infections were causing it, once we started feeding this food that resolved fast too. I LOVE this food and will never get anything else again. I would highly recommend this food to anyone. October 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best food yet We have always had bad luck with any dog food that contains chicken. Our dog, Lucky (R.I.P.), was allergic to chicken and would break out in hives. We had a time finding food for her that would not upset her system. Wish Purina ONE Sensitive Systems Salmon would have been around when she was here. We now have two dogs, Jimmy (mixed breed) and Jack (Jack Russell). Jack has sensitive skin and is always scratching, so this food works well for him. Jimmy will eat anything that is put down in front of him, so it is nice not to have to purchase different food. One thing we noticed when they are on Purina ONE Sensitive Systems Salmon they do not have 'fishy butt', which is a real plus! November 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wow! We tried a free bag of food as a skeptic but not we love this food and would recommend it to anyone. One of our dogs is a diabetic and the other dog we were told that he would never walk again. The diabetic dog has maintained his numbers and after taking the other to a chiropractor and using this food, he acts like a puppy again. Both dogs are 6 years old.Thank you for such a great product! Rated 5 out of 5 by IT WORKS I used the SmartBlends Sensitive Skin & Stomach formula, this food works as advertised. There's no hidden secret or agenda, it does what it's advertisement states it will do and that's help a dog's digestive tract and coat health. The only problem with this formula is that the 31lb bags of the Sensitive Skin & Stomach formula are not readily available at most locations in my area, so sometimes it's a chore finding it in the larger bag size. Rated 5 out of 5 by My English Springer and Cocker Spaniel both love this food!!! It has been hard finding a food that both of my babies like and agrees with their tummies. This one fits the ticket. The Cocker has always had issues with what she eats and has had no problems with Purina One. December 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more allergies LOVE this product Shih tzu had horrendous skin/food allergy and on horrible Prednisone and Antibiotics for secondary infections. I tried special much more expensive percribtion diets giving no relief and made of corn.Sensitive systems FISH was recommended to me by my Vet and if I give my dog only this NO other dog treats or people food HIS Problems are COMPLEATLY gone!I do give him frozen green beans and frozen carrot slices.I wish they would make this in can also. Please never stop making this food.Another nice thing they sell it at Kroger and I don't need to run all over town to find it. Rated 5 out of 5 by Cost of product We have been buying Purina One Sensitive Systems for years. We have four Jack Russell's who are very picky about what they eat, so I cannot substitute a different brand, they will catch me on that. I buy the 31.1 pound bag. This is the best dog food on the market. I was hoping to find coupons for this brand and can never find any. There are always coupons for Purina dog food everywhere. Is there a reason why you don't offer them on the Purina One ?? April 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sensitive Systems literally a life saver When I adopted my dog Lily, 6 years ago, I learned the hard way that arctic dogs often suffer from digestive issues. She refused to eat, and had become dehydrated. Thankfully, I found Purina One salmon and rice formula. Within days she was feeling better. She loves the taste, and her coat is shiny and beautiful. Rated 5 out of 5 by Sensitive Systems calmed my dogs itchy skin My three mini schnauzers had very itchy skin before switching to purina sensitive systems. They previously rubbed and chew parts of their skin raw. Their itching has just about completely stopped since switching foods. We are thrilled with purina sensitive systems and would recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 by Improvement I have my 9 y/o 20lb terrier on this because he has a rash and this has a different protein than his other dog food (regular Beneful). This has not helped for the rash.BUT...it really has opened my eyes and I will continue to use the product. Since I started him on this food, I haven't seen him vomit (knock on wood). The other food, it was something that happened at least once a week. It was just getting worse; it seemed as though everything provoked vomiting (a vigorous belly rub, a small piece of ice) things my dog likes that I couldn't give because I know he's going to throw up after. This food has worked wonders and it's the least I could do for a dog that is already uncomfortable with this rash. BTW the rash is doing a bit better but that's because I shampoo and treat him with antibacterial and antifungal dog products, have a flea preventive and discourage licking and scratching by putting a baby garment on him. Rated 3 out of 5 by No improvement with sensitive tummy or hair loss I switched to the 28 day Purina challenge for my four dogs two of which have tummy and skin issues. Although the dogs like the flavor and never missed a nugget in the bowl I have seen no improvement with their tummy situations or hair loss Improvement during this trial. I was hopeful that I would see Improvement for my dogs but I did not . I have no particular reason to continue using Purina One as my previous dog food was less costly. October 9, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best dog food for my dog I have a dog that has Mega esophagus and Purina One Sensitive Systems is the one and only dog food I've found that he can eat and not bring it back up. Not sure how or what you do to it, but never stop. Thank you October 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by For Sensitive stomach Annie kept vomiting up her food, and since she's small (10 lbs), I was told this is fairly common. I called your company for advice and she told me to try the product Purina One which is for sensitive stomachs. I gradually switched her food, and she hasn't vomited since!! Thank you Purina One! Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality dog food My dog has very sensitive skin. She has been allergic to and itched with every dog food we have given her except for Purina One Smart blend Sensitive Systems. Since this dog food is made from natural ingredients, she is also able to digest them better. I would highly recommend this dog food, no matter the issue with your pet! September 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent dog food for a sensitive dog! We had tried almost every food for our German Shepherd who seems to have severe food allergies. After multiple questions to the breeder and what she recommended we decided to take him to a vet to see if it was something else. They decided that he may have severe allergies to food and to try Purina One Sensitive Systems and we are soo glad we did! He no longer is scratching himself raw or losing hair or having rashes. It has been a few weeks on this and noticed almost 100% difference! I would defiantly recommend this to any dog that may have food allergies! September 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for their skin I was looking for food that would help my dogs with their flaky, itchy skin. I found this online and bought it. They have been eating this for over a month and there is definite improvement with their skin issues. I rarely see anyou flakiness and they are not scratching all the time. I would recommend this food for dogs with dry or itchy skin. September 5, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by High palatibility I was unfortunately not able to keep my dog on this food for long as he had to switch to a prescription diet for allergies. However, I will say that my dog loved the taste of the food. He did get that fishy smelling breath, but that seems to come with the ingredients. I have had the opportunity to tour the Purina Research Center in St. Louis and was impressed. Overall I would probably recommend the food to other dog owners. August 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by super-sensitive pit mix I have a now 3 year old pit/mix. She has always been underweight. She would get sick if she ate two days in a row and we were constantly testing for worms or other ailments. As a last ditch effort before major testing and possible surgery, I tried a few sensitive formulas and this has been the ONLY one I can feed her every day without sickness!! After 3 years she is gaining weight and I can no longer see her ribs!!! So Happy!!! June 10, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by good for the price My Australian Shepherd has a very sensitive stomach. He and my other dog will eat anything I give them, but his stomach gets upset from any high corn content food. Lately there are many new "grain free" dog foods on the market, but they are extremely expensive. I do beleive the "sensitive system by Purina One" is a better product than the "Pro Plan" version, but it is much harder to find and costs more. I don't know the difference between the 2 since they are both from Purina, but I think they like the Purina One better, and the Ausies coat seems thicker and healthier when eating the Pro Plan vrs Purina One. Either way, purina is offering us 2 good options for a decent price compared to the other companies out there.But... since almost everyone sticks with a brand for life once they find one that works, I think we should see more rebates and coupons to help out with high prices these days. Rated 1 out of 5 by Distasteful for my dogs I purchased the big bag of the Sensitive Systems Salmon. Both of my dogs walked away from their bowls. They have sensitive stomachs but have never been fussy. I have been using Purina products for years and never had a problem with them turning a meal down. After a week, I gave in and threw out the whole bag. They are now on Purina Lamb and rice and love it. May 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent food This food is excellent and amazing. My schanauzer had diarrhea will not be controlled with any medication prescribed by the veterinarian. When I gave this meal was improved in only 4 days is wonderful. Loves food and their coats shiny and more beautiful than ever. May 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The ONLY food my 10 year old black lab can eat!! I started feeding my almost 10 year old black lab, Kokanee, Purina One Sensitive System Salmon formula about two years ago.... This all started when she was diagnosed with canine acid reflux disease... She couldn't keep any food down, especially anything with chicken or lamb....so by raising her food dish, and switching to this Purina Sensitive System formula...she's been doing great and hasn't had to take her acid reflux medicine. She is a happy, healthy senior citizen who loves her Salmon food :)I think the only thing that I have to complain about is that there is only one place I can find the food in town.. which means sometimes they run out and I have to buy more than a bag at a time to secure not having to feed her a interim food...I rave about this food- and I'm so happy it's not made from corn, fillers and other things that make her sick. Rated 5 out of 5 by A God send for our dog Our schnauzer, Charlie, had something affecting his skin on his back and inside of his legs that was causing him to lose his hair and have flaky, itchy skin. I saw this product while looking for more food for Charlie. Since he has a sensitive stomach, I thought I'd try it out. He loved the taste and two weeks later, when I took him to the groomers they were astounded that the flakiness was gone, his coat was healthy and shiny, but most astonishing was his hair had grown back. We have recommended this food to friends and family and all have had similar success. Thanks Purina!! Well Done!!!! April 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Changed my dogs life So when my dog Mia got older, around a year old, she started getting really bad skin allergies. Not only this, but the food I had been feeding her (pedigree) was not agreeing with her stomach and her stools were the polar opposite from solid. After a couple of accidents in the house I called East Carolina Vet in Greenville NC, and they recommended Purina One for Sensitive Skin and Digestion. After slowly switching over to this brand, I shortly noticed a difference in not only her stools, but her itching was less frequent as well. This product agrees with her and she loves it. She is now a little over 3 and I haven't given her any other brand of dog food since!! February 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality food my dogs enjoy Before switching my 3 dogs to purina one, they were picky eaters and they had some health issues. My one dog developed acid reflex and needed to be given a Pepcid daily, and the other two dogs had very dry sensitive skin. Since switching their food their coats have been shiny, dandruff free, and not itchy! The other dog hasn't needed her Pepcid daily! Also their pickiness stopped! Thank you purina for making a food that they can enjoy! April 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more "fish butts" My jack russell ate about anything i put in front of her, no digestive issue, but she's always had problem with gland not emptying when she goes to the bathroom. So once every other week, it would suddenly "leak", very unpleasant, it gets on the carpet on her bed etc... This salmon based purina one sensitive dog food is the ONLY kind, i repeat, the ONLY kind that has solved her problem. Since switching about a year ago, not a single fish butt episode ever!My other dog rottie/lab mix has a sensitive stomach, along with the fish butt issue. With other kinds of dog food, he sometimes throw up the entire content about a hour after he eats it, also problem with diarrhea and fish butt. Again, since switching, no more fish butt, and rarely rarely does his stomach gets upset anymore. Another bonus- he has the most beautiful shiny black coat now! Gets compliments on it all the time. One minor complain- cost is a bit high, wish it is more affordable with a 40 lb bag offered. Since jan 2014, the supply of this dog food has been so low in all my local grocery store and pet supply stores, what is going on? Would love to see more manufacturing coupon on Purina one. Rated 5 out of 5 by The search for my best friends food is finally over!! My rescue Pitbull has terrible stomach issues along with multiple allergies, very dry skin and hip/shoulder/joint problems. After 2 adult years on another brand's lamb & rice formula, he became intolerant to it. He was on an expensive vet prescribed diet then I transitioned him to a specific brand that was for sensitive stomachs and expensive. He was allergic to something in the new food so I took him to the vet, a NEW VET. More antibiotics, steroids & medicated bath's.. But the greatest thing happened that day, the vet told me about this dog food! He said he gives it to his dog's & highly recommends it for dogs like mine with stomach/allergy problems. Not vet prescribed, not insanely expensive! I can find it at my local Walmart without difficulty. "Rocky" has not had any problems at all with this food. He loves to eat it, no allergies to it, he digests it well & doesn't have loose doggy poo anymore!! I do still supplement him with additional fish oil and glucosamine and chondroitin as discussed with my new vet, but that's because his other medical conditions are rather severe. We are so happy that our search for a safe & nutritious dog food is over!! Thank you Purina!! September 11, 2014

    Feeding Instructions

    Adult Feeding Instructions

The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog with a normal activity level (using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup, which contains approximately 112 g of Purina ONE). Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition. The pet experts at Purina have provided the feeding amounts indicated as a starting point. If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly. To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and his waist is visible when viewed from above. Maintaining an ideal body condition can impact your dog’s lifelong health.

    It's Not For All Dogs

Purina ONE Sensitive Systems Formula is specifically formulated for adult dogs. If you have a puppy, or a pregnant or nursing dog, feed Purina ONE SMARTBlend Healthy Puppy Formula.

May Be Served dry or moistened

Purina ONE may be fed dry or mixed with water. If mixed, we suggest one part liquid to four parts Purina ONE.

A dog's digestive system works best when it receives the same food each day. Although humans crave variety in their diets, dogs do not. Feeding different dog foods can turn your dog into a finicky eater. Avoid feeding table scraps, as they can upset the nutrient balance provided by your dog's regular food, and may lead to obesity. The best way to feed your dog is to feed only one dog food each and every day.

Making The Switch to Purina ONE

Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Purina ONE can make in your dog, please allow 7–10 days to ease the transition from his current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Purina ONE until you’re feeding Purina ONE exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

    No Supplements Necessary

Purina ONE provides 100% complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult dogs. There is no need to add vitamins, minerals or other supplements, unless specifically directed by a veterinarian.

Fresh Water, Proper Diet & Veterinary Care

Be sure to provide fresh water in a clean container for your dog daily. Proper diet, exercise and veterinary care are the best ways to keep your dog healthy. If your dog hasn’t had a check-up in the past year, please make an appointment today.
